Who does not like to eat rice? I’m sure no one hates rice. And if they are fried on Blackstone, their taste goes to the next level. Personally, I love Blackstone fried rice because it is easy to prepare, and full of deliciousness.

When you go out of the restaurant, they charge a lot of money for this dish. So I thought that I’ll teach you how to make this amazing recipe at home, which will taste exactly like restaurant rice as well as save you money. 

Plus, it only takes minutes to prepare, so you can enjoy this dish without spending hours in the kitchen. It is perfect for busy weeknights and especially when you make it for large batches.

I learned this recipe from my mom and the funniest thing is that now my mom is also crazy about my handmade recipe. This dish includes simple ingredients that can be found easily in the home’s kitchen such as fresh vegetables, herbs and some seasoning.

What Is Fried Rice

Fried rice is a delicious dish prepared with cooked rice, vegetables, eggs, chicken, or shrimp cooked. The most common vegetables used in this recipe are carrots and peas. It is mostly cooked in a wok, fry pan or on a Blackstone griddle. It can be served as a main dish or as a side dish.

According to my research, Fried rice originated in China during the Sui Dynasty. Over the years, this dish spread all over the world and became a favourite of all. Approximately 2 billion servings of Fried Rice are consumed each year.

After All, Why Blackstone Griddle

You can also use a wok or fry pan to make fried rice but why is Blackstone a good option? You’ll also know the answer to this question very well if you are familiar with griddle cooking. Personally, I prefer Blackstone as it is much easier to cook on it than in the kitchen and its large surface.

Most people also give importance to it because of its large surface. This allows you to make large batches of meals at once. It distributes heat evenly and quickly which helps to fry your rice properly. It is also easier to clean than the stoves in the kitchen.

Blackstone griddles come with non-stick surfaces. So while frying, your rice will not stick to the surface and the original taste of the rice will remain. They give a rich taste to your foods that you can’t get from traditional pans.

There are many other benefits of using Blackstone. I have given the main reasons why you should use Blackstone for frying your rice.

What Kind of Rice Do You Use On Blackstone

It totally depends on your personal preference. Mostly I use Jasmine rice because I love its nice fragrance. And I hope you like this type of rice too. But there is no pressure here. You can choose rice according to your taste.

But I would like to share one thing with you. Always use one-day-old rice because it becomes tastier than normal rice.

Now without further discussion, let’s start the recipe.

Ingredients That You’ll Need

Cooked rice: It is important to use cooked and cooled rice that is at least one day old. This will help to make the rice crispy. As I told you before, Jasmine rice works well but you can use any type of rice that you like.

Cooking Oil: You can use any type of oil but try to use high smoke point oil such as vegetable oil, canola oil, avocado oil or sesame oil. This oil will be used for cooking ingredients.

Vegetables: Now you’ll need some vegetables to enhance the flavour of fried rice. It includes sliced carrots, peas, and diced onions. If you need more flavour to your dish, you can also add frozen corn and bell peppers.

Eggs: This recipe usually includes scrambled eggs. Simply beat the desired eggs in a bowl and season with salt and pepper.

Seasonings: It includes salt and black pepper. But you can also use seasonings like ginger and garlic powder. But I suggest you use only the first two seasonings.

Protein (Optional): You can choose your favourite protein like chicken, beef, shrimp, pork, or tofu.

Soy Sauce: If you need a more flavourful dish, use regular or low-sodium soy sauce.

How to Cook Fried Rice on the Blackstone Griddle

Here is the step-by-step guide:

Step 1

The first step is to preheat your griddle to medium heat (approximately 350 degrees F).

Step 2

Add some cooking oil to your griddle and spread it with a spatula.

Step 3

Now it’s time to fry vegetables to the Blackstone griddle. First, cook the diced onions until they become light brown. Then push the cooked onions to one side. Add carrots and peas to the griddle and fry them until they become soft.

Step 4 (Optional)

If you are using protein in fried rice then fry them for about 2-4 minutes until fully cooked.

Step 5

Push the cooked vegetables and protein to one side of the griddle and add beaten eggs. Scramble the eggs and when it’s done, move them to one side with vegetables. Make sure you chop the eggs into small pieces. 

Step 6

Add some more oil and pour the cooked rice on the griddle. Then add soy sauce and seasonings on rice. Cook the rice for about 2-3 minutes until they are slightly brown.

Step 7

Now it’s time to mix everything that you cooked on the griddle. And cook them for about a minute on low heat.

Step 8

Once the fried rice is done, remove it from the griddle. And enjoy!

Can I Make Fried Rice Without Blackstone Griddle

The answer is simply yes. It is possible to make fried rice if you don’t have a griddle. There are options like a wok and fry pan on the stovetop. It also has the same cooking method as the griddle but will require a little more effort than Blackstone.

And you can’t make food in large batches on the stovetop.

Is It Necessary to Use Eggs in This Recipe

Eggs are a good protein for us and also give the rice a good look and taste. But some people have food allergies and avoid eating eggs. In that situation, you can of course omit the eggs from the fried rice.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Cooking oil
  • 3 cups Cooked rice (Cooled)
  • 1/2 cup Diced onions
  • 1 cup Shredded carrots and peas
  • 2 Light beaten eggs
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1/2 tbsp Grinded black pepper
  • 1/3 pounds Cubed chicken, beef, shrimp or tofu (Optional)
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat your griddle to medium heat.
  • Spread one teaspoon cooking oil with spatula on griddle.
  • When the griddle is hot, fry the diced onions until they become slightly brown. Then push the onions to one side and cooked the carrots and peas until it become soft.
  • If you are using protine, cut them into cubed pieces and fry until they fully cooked.
  • Move the all prepared vegetable and prtotein to one side of griddle and add beaten eggs on surface. Scrampled the eggs and copped into small pieces.
  • Add one teaspoon more oil and pour the cooked cooled rice on griddle. Add soy sauce and seasnings on it and cooks for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Now its time to mix everything together and cook for about a minut.
  • Finally serve and enjoy!
